We’re Hosting a Hackathon for the People Who Actually Drive the Freight

DASH is a free, one-week virtual build competition giving developers full SONAR API access to ship something that makes a driver’s life better.

Most freight tech is built for the people who manage freight — not the people who move it.

Fleet managers, dispatchers, brokers — they’ve had purpose-built software for years. But truck drivers, the 3.5 million people who physically keep supply chains running, are largely an afterthought when it comes to the apps and tools they actually use day to day.

That’s the gap DASH was built to close.

DASH — the Driver App Shortage Hackathon — is a free, one-week virtual hackathon hosted by FreightWaves running June 15–22, 2026. Developers, designers, and freight builders get full access to the SONAR API and one week to ship something that genuinely improves life behind the wheel. No entry fee. Open to anyone, anywhere.

A judging panel of freight operators, FreightWaves leadership, and members of the venture community will evaluate submissions, with finalists getting 30-minute demo sessions and winners receiving 12 months of free SONAR API access plus full FreightWaves editorial coverage.

The kickoff webinar is June 15. Register at the link below — you’ll get a Google Meet invite with the full API walkthrough, rules, and everything you need to hit the ground running.
